If you like Japanese BBQ consider adding Gyu-Kaku to your list of places to try. Located in the downtown core of Richmond, BC on Alderbridge Way. It is a very busy place with a two hour dining limit. It is recommended that you make a reservation.
We went as a group of six and ordered the Gyu-Kaku Feast (for 6 people). It is a set menu that gives you a variety of options to try. This way we got to sample lots of different parts of their menu and everything was shared. As you cook the food yourself at the table everyone sharing was much easier than everyone trying to cook their own dinner on the same element.
Gyu-Kaku Feast $230+tax

Dinner was delicious and the food had great flavours. Everything was cut thin enough that it did not take a long time to cook. One downside is that they did not change the cooking element so after awhile there was some build up that was charred. If you prefer a place that is changing out the cooking surface during your meal you will need to pick a different restaurant. The s’mores were a fun touch towards the experience and gives younger guest the ability to participate in cooking as well.
Overall Gyu-Kaku is a delicious dinner that can be shared with friends and family. If you enjoy cooking a meal together and hanging out while you do it check on this great Japanese BBQ spot in Richmond!
