On a recent trip we stopped at the Super 8 Motel by Wyndham in Salmon Arm, and unfortunately, this stay was not a great experience. We’ve stayed at other Super 8 locations, like the one in Williams Lake, and expected similar standards—but this location fell far short.
Cleanliness Concerns
Right from the start, the room showed neglect. There was food on the floor, visible stains on the walls, and marks on the furniture and linens. Hallways were dimly lit—likely to make the heavy staining on the carpets less obvious. While the bed itself was comfortable, overall cleanliness and upkeep were a disappointment.
Breakfast Comparison
The complimentary breakfast was one of the weakest we’ve seen. Options included limp bread, brown bananas, and a nearly empty 4‑litre jug of milk left out for coffee. It was a stark contrast to the great breakfast we experienced at the Super 8 in Williams Lake, which offered a far better variety and quality.
Accessibility & Layout Issues
Accessibility was also a concern. There were no assist buttons on the front door for guests with mobility needs, and the property has no elevator—not ideal if your room isn’t on the ground floor. In-room layout felt awkward: the mini fridge was located directly under the hanging bar, leaving no room for longer clothing items. The TV was in front of the mirror, blocking part of its use.
Room Features That Missed the Mark
The bathroom didn’t fare much better. The shower only allowed room-temperature water at best, as the handle was fixed to stop before reaching hot. After a long day of travel, not having a proper hot shower was a huge letdown.
The One Positive
If there was one redeeming feature, it was the bed itself—it was comfortable and provided a decent night’s sleep. Unfortunately, that alone isn’t enough to recommend this location.
Final Thoughts
This Super 8 Motel Salmon Arm review reflects a stay that failed to meet expectations in nearly every area except for the bed. With cleanliness issues, a poor breakfast, accessibility shortcomings, and awkward room design, we would not choose this location again. The Super 8 Motel Williams Lake would be a stay again however.
