We recently stayed at the Grand Forks Inn while passing through the Kootenays. It was a straightforward stay—clean and comfortable, nothing fancy, but with a few standout touches worth mentioning.

Room & Cleanliness

The room itself was tidy and functional, with exterior door access and basic furnishings. One odd detail: the shower tiles had been painted over. You could see the texture through the paint, and it was peeling off the grout in places. It didn’t affect functionality but was noticeable.

Continental Breakfast

The continental breakfast offered the basics:

  • Bread for toast
  • Bananas, apples, and oranges
  • Yogurt and granola bars
  • Fresh coffee

Nothing elaborate, but enough to get you started for the day.

Outdoor Pool & Amenities

One pleasant surprise was the outdoor heated pool. We saw a staff member cleaning and testing the water each morning, which was reassuring. The property has stairs to the second floor, which are a bit steep, and we didn’t see an elevator—something to consider if you have mobility concerns.

Service That Stands Out

The staff were friendly and quick to help. A great example: we phoned late in the evening for more toilet paper, and someone brought it to our room in under five minutes. That kind of responsive service makes a big difference.

Final Thoughts

This Grand Forks Inn review sums up a simple, clean, and service‑oriented stay. While there are a few quirks like painted shower tiles and no elevator, the outdoor pool, reliable breakfast, and helpful staff make it a solid option for a stopover in the area.
