We were doing some traveling and booked a room at the Coast Hinton Hotel as we have enjoyed our stays at other Coast Hotels. This visit however was not like any of the others. We will not be staying there again as the price was high for the level of amenities and cleanliness.
Hotel Room
The room was basic but had lower quality finishings than we were use to when staying with Coast Hotels and things were stained. The cover sheet was stained as were the chairs and curtains. The picture doesn’t show the stain great, but it was not what I was expecting to see when I pulled back the covers to get ready for bed. With white linens it is hard to hide any imperfections.
The air conditioner was very loud and I would recommend earplugs if you are not a solid sleeper who can tune out noise. It is also older so doesn’t give a room temperature to get to, but rather you play guess and see if you like it.
We also booked the room for two adults and they only gave us one room key and one towel that was big enough to use when you took a shower. When we went to phone for more towels the phone was disconnected from the wall and had to be plugged back in. Had we asked for a wake up call when we checked in we would have never gotten it.
Kimchi House
The saving grace at the Coast Hinton Hotel was their in house restaurant the Kimchi House. The food was delicious after a long day of traveling. We did do takeout so that we could relax in our room and they gave us 10% for being hotel guests. We did the dinner for 2 so that we could get some variety and not have to try and decide what we wanted.
If you are travelling and need to stay in Hinton, Alberta you may need to do some hotel research. The price of a basic room at the Coast Hinton Hotel cost us the same price as a suite at the Coast Prince George by APA. However, if you need some food try checking out the Kimchi House!
