Vis-a-Vis is a breakfast joint in the sleepy Oak Bay Community. This was our first visit since before the Pandemic started. I was a little disappointed with our visit. The breakfast menu was sustainably smaller with only 6 set menu items. Previously, I was able to do a few sides to make up my meal. My go to was avocado, bacon, and a croissant because the pastries were fresh daily.
This trip I ordered a classic eggs benedict with medium poached eggs and potatoes. The the dish arrived the eggs were hard poached. The potatoes were amazing though with course salt and green onions.
It was super busy while we were there so we sat at the bar along the window. This was nice as we got to look outside and have some natural lighting.
The plating of their dishes was pleasant and enough for a meal. They also had a variety of breakfast beverages from espresso to juice to tea.
Hopefully the minimal menu is just a Covid casualty and the bigger menu will come back down the road with time.
